Alan Wake 2 follows FBI agent Saga Anderson as she investigates a string of ritualistic murders in Bright Falls, only to find pages of a horror story coming true around her. Alongside her, Alan Wake, a writer trapped in the nightmarish Dark Place, tries to rewrite reality to escape his own prison. The two stories, and the two heroes, reflect and affect one another as supernatural darkness spreads through Bright Falls and Watery.

Play moves between Anderson's race to solve the case and Wake's attempts to reshape his reality, exploring the Pacific Northwest landscapes of Cauldron Lake and the twisted cityscape of the Dark Place. Light is the main defence against the darkness, used to fend off enemies before resources run out in close combat. This is a story rich, horror game with strong action and adventure elements throughout.
