Aliens: Dark Descent puts you in charge of a squad of Colonial Marines sent to the planet Lethe to contain a Xenomorph outbreak. Combat plays out in real time, with squad orders issued on the fly as you face Xenomorphs, Weyland-Yutani operatives and other creatures new to the Alien setting.

Levels are open and persistent, so shortcuts, safe zones and motion trackers you set up stay in place, and death among your Marines is permanent. Between missions you manage resources, research and squad specialisation, choosing from five starting Marine classes with their own abilities and gear as you build a force able to survive Lethe.
