Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise Of The Dragons sends Billy and Jimmy Lee back to a nuclear-ravaged New York of the year 199X, where gangs rule the ruined streets. This alternate story revisits the brothers' early days as they fight both familiar faces and new enemies, built around roguelite mission structures rather than a straight linear campaign.

Tag team combat lets you switch between two fighters mid-battle, mixing offensive and defensive options to string together combos. The mission select screen is dynamic: the order you tackle jobs in changes their length, enemy numbers and overall difficulty, so no two runs play out quite the same.

Roster and progression

You start with Billy, Jimmy, Marian and Uncle Matin, then earn tokens during runs to unlock nine further characters, each with their own moveset and strengths. Difficulty settings affect how many tokens you earn per session, and those tokens buy upgrades, character unlocks and tips from the Token Shop between missions.
