Forspoken follows Frey Holland, transported from New York City into the fantastical land of Athia, where a sentient bracelet called Cuff grants her powerful magic. Athia was once ruled by benevolent matriarchs, the Tantas, until a blight called the Break corrupted their domains, turning animals into beasts and the Tantas themselves into maddened sorceresses.

Frey must travel through Athia's four corrupted realms, battling monstrous creatures and confronting the Tantas as she searches for a way home and uncovers the source of her own strange power. The open world is rendered with detailed, otherworldly vistas that shift from beautiful to cruel as the corruption deepens.

Combat and movement built around Frey's magic

Frey fights with a customisable arsenal of spells suited to different playstyles, from fast and aggressive combat to slower, more tactical approaches. Her magic also powers an intuitive parkour system, letting her scale walls, vault canyons and dash across Athia's landscapes at speed, which makes exploring the open world as much a part of the experience as the fights themselves.
