Generation Zero drops you into a vast, abandoned Swedish countryside where the population has vanished and unknown machines now patrol the streets. You explore freely, scavenging for weapons and supplies while taking on missions and challenges that slowly reveal what happened to the invaders and the people they replaced.

Combat here rewards patience and preparation. You combine weapons, skills and equipment to lure, cripple and destroy mechanical enemies, and when a foe is too strong to face head on, you fall back on stealth, moving quietly and using the terrain and the enemy's own senses against it. Up to four players can team up seamlessly, pooling skills to survive together, and the game leans into its 1980s setting with period outfits and hairstyles to find as loot.
