Hearts of Iron IV - By Blood Alone expands Paradox Development Studio's WWII grand strategy game with new national paths for Italy, Ethiopia and Switzerland. Italy can follow Mussolini's historical route or diverge into monarchy, communist revolution or new leadership contenders. Ethiopia gets tools to resist invasion, including unique Government in Exile abilities, while Switzerland balances neutrality between the great powers surrounding it.

Beyond the focus trees, this expansion reworks peace conferences with options to demilitarise zones or nations, bid on captured capital ships, or claim resources and factories as reparations. An aircraft designer lets you build custom planes from fast interceptors to heavy bombers, and a new unit medals system tracks each division's record and lets commanders be recognised for their actions.
