Quake IV GOG Digital Key

A brutal sequel to the Quake 2 storyline

Quake IV continues the war against the Strogg, dropping you into a desperate defence of Earth where the only route to victory is turning the enemy's own methods against them. Built on id Tech 4, the same engine that powered Doom 3, it delivers grim industrial and alien environments rendered with the lighting and detail that engine was known for.

You fight alongside an elite squad of marines, moving between tight infantry firefights and larger set pieces where tanks and walkers take the battle outdoors onto the Strogg home planet. It sits firmly in the tradition of id Software's fast, aggressive shooters, with an emphasis on relentless combat rather than stealth or slow tactics.

Multiplayer and genre

Alongside the single player campaign, Quake IV includes arena-style online multiplayer built for fast, competitive action, keeping it in step with other FPS games of its era. Its co-op-friendly squad structure and pace also make it worth a look for fans of co-op games and broader action titles from the same period.

Background
