Resident Evil Requiem returns players to Raccoon City, the Midwestern city once home to Umbrella's global headquarters, still marked by the cover-up that followed the 1998 outbreak and the missile strike used to contain it. The story follows Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst whose sharp deductive mind and troubled relationship with her mother's death drive her to investigate an unexplained death at an abandoned hotel, alone.

Gameplay leans on the series' established mix of combat, investigation, puzzles and careful resource management, and lets players switch freely between first and third-person perspectives to approach the horror in whichever way suits them.
