Super Mario, with new ally Cappy, sets off far from the Mushroom Kingdom on a 3D adventure across a string of distinct kingdoms, all built to stop Bowser's wedding plans and rescue Princess Peach. Cappy allows Mario to capture objects, animals and enemies, turning the traditional run-and-jump into something far more flexible, with cap jump, cap throw and capture moves opening up new ways to explore.

Locations such as the skyscraper-lined New Donk City reward curiosity, and coins collected along the way can be exchanged at Crazy Cap stores for outfits and decorations. A Snapshot Mode lets players pause the action to compose and customise screenshots.

Playing together

Handing a second Joy-Con controller to a friend opens up simultaneous play, with one person controlling Mario and the other controlling Cappy, so the search for Power Moons can be shared.
