Terminator: Dark Fate - Defiance is a real-time strategy game set in the Terminator: Dark Fate universe, built around the war between humanity and Legion's synthetic machine network. In the single-player campaign you command the Founders, a force drawn from the remnants of the US military, and guide them across a series of large strategic maps in an attempt to stop Legion's plan to wipe out the last of humanity.

Your army carries over from mission to mission, so decisions about unit placement, tactics and abilities have lasting consequences. Battles are tense and resource-limited: allies and enemies can shift depending on your choices, and certain missions open up or close off based on how earlier fights played out.

Dynamic battlefields and three factions

Combat uses a modular component damage system, where armour, malfunctions and hull structure all influence whether your troops survive. Buildings can be demolished using battlefield physics, which is particularly useful for shaping urban fights to your advantage.

Beyond the campaign, skirmish and multiplayer modes let you play as three distinct factions:

• Founders, the human resistance force
• Movement, a separate human faction with its own approach
• Legion, the machine intelligence itself
