The Ascent drops you into Veles, a densely packed cyberpunk world run by corporations, inside the towering Ascent Group arcology. You play a worker owned by the corporation that controls your district, and when The Ascent Group suddenly shuts down, you're left to find out why while your district's survival hangs in the balance.

It's an action-shooter RPG at heart, built around aiming, switching weapons, using cover and destructible environments, and adapting your approach as new enemies and threats appear. Cyberware customisation and skill points let you shape a build that suits how you like to fight, and exploring the districts, from the slums up to the luxury spheres, brings new allies, enemies and loot along the way.

Solo or with friends

The whole campaign can be played alone or in co-op with up to three friends, either locally or online, so the corporate conspiracy at the centre of the story can be tackled as a squad or as a lone worker fighting the system single-handed.
