The Outlast Trials Steam Account

Survive Murkoff's trials, alone or with friends

The Outlast Trials is a horror survival game from Red Barrels, set during the Cold War inside the Murkoff Corporation's grim experimental facility. Human test subjects are put through brainwashing therapies known as Trials and shorter MK-Challenges, with the promise of release back into society if they endure long enough.

Play can be tackled solo or with a team of up to four, with cooperation useful but never forced for mandatory objectives. Rather than fighting back, the core loop is about stealth, hiding and fleeing enemies, using tools that stun, blind, heal or let you see through walls, all of which have to be earned and upgraded as you progress.

Between runs you customise your patient and your cell, and pick tools, upgrades and perks to suit how you like to play. Documents and items scattered through the facility hint at Murkoff's wider malpractice against the people it has abducted.

The Outlast Trials sits across action, adventure and indie genres, so it suits players who enjoy tense survival horror as much as those browsing action games or indie games more generally. It's also a fit for anyone already looking at adventure titles with a horror edge.
