The Outlast Trials is a cooperative survival horror game from Red Barrels, set during the Cold War, in which you play a human test subject abducted by the Murkoff Corporation to undergo brainwashing experiments. There is no combat here: the core loop is avoidance, hiding and fleeing from the Denizens who patrol the Sinyala Facility while you work through Murkoff's Trials and shorter MK-Challenges.

You can take on the therapy solo or team up with two, three or four players. Cooperation is never forced for mandatory objectives, but working together helps you earn and improve the tools you'll need to survive, from stunning and blinding enemies to seeing through walls and healing your fellow patients.

Make it your own cell

Between trials you return to your own cell, which you can decorate as you see fit, and you can customise your patient's appearance, tools, upgrades and perks to suit how you like to play. Along the way you'll collect documents and items that build a picture of Murkoff's malpractice against the people trapped inside its programme.
