Wild Bastards comes from Blue Manchu, the team behind Void Bastards and Card Hunter, and it sends you hopping between planets to rebuild a gang of 13 outlaws, each with a distinct weapon, special power and growth tree. The story follows the last two survivors of the Wild Bastards gang, hunted down by the puritanical magnate Jebediah Chaste, as they team up with the Drifter, a sentient spacecraft, to resurrect their fallen crew and flee towards the mythical Homestead.

On each planet you scavenge loot and trigger showdowns that play out as tight, bite-sized tactical shootouts. Enemies use cover, flanking and special moves such as teleportation or homing quills, so success depends on reading the terrain and choosing the right outlaw for the job.

Managing the gang

Beyond combat, Wild Bastards asks you to look after relationships between outlaws who don't always get along, and to spend resources healing the injured, levelling up characters and mending feuds. Planets are procedurally generated with varying gravity, terrain and weather, so no two runs of this action, indie and strategy title play out the same way.

Once the main campaign is finished, a challenge mode opens up with a sequence of increasingly difficult sectors and mutators to change how the game plays, giving reason to keep returning to the galaxy after the story ends.
