VMware product keys activate licenses for VMware virtualization software such as VMware Workstation Pro, VMware Fusion, or VMware vSphere. Here is how to enter yours.
Before You Start
- VMware software installed on your computer
- Your VMware license key (usually 25 characters)
VMware Workstation Pro (Windows/Linux)
- Open VMware Workstation.
- Go to Help in the top menu.
- Click “Enter a License Key” or “Enter Serial Number”.
- Paste your license key and click “OK”.
VMware Fusion (macOS)
- Open VMware Fusion.
- Go to VMware Fusion in the menu bar.
- Click “License”.
- Enter your license key and click “Apply”.
Tips
- Note: Starting with VMware Workstation Pro 17.6 and Fusion Pro 13.6, personal-use licenses are free. Commercial-use licenses still require a paid key.
- Each key is tied to a specific product version. Ensure your key matches the installed version.
- A license key typically activates one installation. Multi-device deployments require volume licenses.
