A hardcore survival world with only one rule

DayZ drops players into a post-apocalyptic landscape overrun by frenzied infected and other desperate survivors, where the only goal is to stay alive. The standard edition includes both of the game's original terrains: Chernarus, a 230 square kilometre hand-crafted map based on real post-soviet locations, and Livonia, a denser 163 square kilometre landscape of forests, swamps and hidden ruins.

Up to 60 players can occupy a server at once, and every encounter carries weight. You might team up to build a base, get betrayed for your supplies, or find yourself caught in a firefight at a military hotspot. Survival depends on managing hunger, thirst and body temperature while evading wolves, bears and the elements, all while scavenging cities for gear, crafting improvised items and repairing vehicles.

Loot, mod and explore

Gearing up matters as much as staying fed. Players patch damaged clothing, hunt for hazard suits and gas masks before venturing into contaminated zones, and hide caches under traps at secret bases. The Steam Workshop opens the door to customised servers and community-made maps, guns and features, all manageable from the game launcher.

In Livonia, food is scarce, so hunting, fishing and foraging become essential. The map hides a mysterious underground complex to the south, best explored with a friend and a flashlight, along with murky swamps, abandoned sawmills and quarries stocked with leftover explosives.

This is an Altergift for DayZ on Steam, activating worldwide, so it works wherever you are. Once redeemed, the game appears on your own Steam account, ready to play on Windows. It requires PEGI 18 due to its violent, hardcore survival content, and text and audio are in English.
