About Idea Factory

Idea Factory publishes and develops games with a strong anime identity, usually built around large character casts, dialogue heavy storytelling and distinctive art direction. Its best known line is Neptunia, a series that mixes role playing systems with affectionate jokes about the games industry.

Work from several studios sits under the Idea Factory name. Compile Heart is behind much of the RPG output, including Neptunia and Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force, while Otomate specialises in otome visual novels such as Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds, Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms and Amnesia: Memories. PREAPP PARTNERS also appears among the developers represented.

Games in the catalogue

Neptunia is the widest thread, with Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed, Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3 V Generation, Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart, Super Neptunia RPG, Neptunia Virtual Stars and Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters covering turn based combat, side scrolling and brawler style action. Fans of role playing games will also find Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force and Death end re;Quest Code Z.

Story led titles include Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds and Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms, Amnesia: Memories and DATE A LIVE: Rio Reincarnation, while Azur Lane Crosswave and Monster Monpiece lean towards action and card battling. Releases in the catalogue span 2015 to 2026.

A large part of the range is downloadable content: character packs, costume sets and expansions that attach to a base game. These add ons require the matching base title on the same account before they can be used.

How buying works

Everything here is for PC and activates on Steam, so a purchase is added to a Steam library and downloaded through the Steam client. Most titles come as keys, which are redeemed on a Steam account; if a listing is an account instead, it arrives with the game already on it and is signed into rather than redeemed. The help centre explains how to activate a Steam key step by step.

Games are sold per region, and a key has to match the region of the Steam account it is redeemed on, so check the region of a listing before buying and read about region locking if you are unsure.
