About HAMSTER
HAMSTER is a publisher based in Japan, best known for the ACA NEOGEO line: faithful conversions of arcade titles that preserve the coin-op presentation and scoring of the originals. Its catalogue leans on two pillars of the NEOGEO library, the side-scrolling Metal Slug shooters and the tag-heavy The King of Fighters tournament series.
Alongside the arcade conversions, HAMSTER has also published Kung-Fu for Kinect, a motion-based brawler for Xbox One. Taken together, the range sits firmly in action and fighting territory, with a run of releases spanning 2017 to 2019.
Games from HAMSTER in the catalogue
The Metal Slug side of the range includes Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug 4 and Metal Slug 5. Several of these come as Microsoft Store keys for Windows PC, while Metal Slug 2 and Metal Slug 4 are listed for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
Fighting fans will find The King of Fighters '94, '95, '96, '97, '98, '99 and 2003, all as Xbox codes. Kung-Fu for Kinect rounds out the selection on Xbox One. Everything from HAMSTER here is sold as a digital key rather than an account, covering action, fighting and adventure-leaning arcade play.
How buying HAMSTER games works
Each title activates on the platform its listing names. Xbox codes are redeemed through the Microsoft account you play on, and the Xbox activation guide walks through the steps on console or in the Xbox app. PC titles such as Metal Slug, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug X and Metal Slug 5 are redeemed on Windows, and the Microsoft Store guide covers that route.
Games are sold per region, and a key has to match the region set on the account redeeming it, so check the region of the listing against your account before buying.
Common questions
- Which platform do HAMSTER games activate on?
- Each listing states its platform. Xbox titles are redeemed on a Microsoft account for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, while the Windows titles are redeemed through the Microsoft Store on PC.
- Will a key work in another country?
- Only if the key's region matches the region of the account redeeming it. A key intended for one region will be rejected by an account registered elsewhere, so match the two before purchase.
- Are these sold as keys or accounts?
- The HAMSTER titles listed are digital keys. You redeem the code on your own Microsoft account and the game is added to your library.
- When do I get the code?
- The key details are delivered to your order once payment completes.
- Can I play an Xbox One key on Xbox Series X|S?
- The ACA NEOGEO listings covering Xbox One also cover Xbox Series X|S, as stated in each listing. Kung-Fu for Kinect is listed for Xbox One.
