About PlayWay
PlayWay works with a wide network of small studios in Poland, publishing the kind of hands-on simulators that let players take over a workshop, a farm or a smuggling checkpoint. Studios behind the catalogue include Red Dot Games, Noble Muffins, Cleversan Software, FreeMind, DreamWay Games and Code Horizon.
The best-known series are Car Mechanic Simulator, represented by Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 and Car Mechanic Simulator 2015, and Thief Simulator, with Thief Simulator and Thief Simulator 2. Alongside them sit strategy and management titles such as Farm Manager 2021 and Espresso Tycoon, and more action-led games like American Theft 80s and 303 Squadron: Battle of Britain, spanning releases from 2016 to 2026.
PlayWay games in the catalogue
The bulk of the range is simulation and management, covering vehicles and scrapyards in Used Cars Simulator, Junkyard Simulator and Ore Factory Squad, resource work in Gold Mining Simulator, and business building in Farm Manager 2021 and Espresso Tycoon. Indie, casual, action and adventure titles fill out the rest, from Contraband Police to Robin Hood - Sherwood Builders.
Steam is the main platform across the catalogue, and most titles are sold as Steam keys or Steam gift deliveries. Thief Simulator also comes on GOG.com and Xbox One, while Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 covers Steam, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, so Xbox codes are part of the mix for Xbox One and Series X|S owners.
How buying and activation work
A key is redeemed on the platform it was made for: Steam keys go into the Steam client or website, and there is a walkthrough for activating a Steam key as well as one for Xbox codes. Some PlayWay titles, among them Thief Simulator 2, Contraband Police, Espresso Tycoon and 303 Squadron: Battle of Britain, are also available as accounts, which arrive with the game already on it and are signed into rather than redeemed.
Games are sold per region, and a key has to match the region of the account it is activated on, so check the region of a listing against the store region of your platform account before buying.
Common questions
- Which platform does a PlayWay game activate on?
- Each title activates on the platform stated in its listing. Most are Steam releases, with Thief Simulator also on GOG.com and Xbox One and Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 on Steam, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
- Will a key work in another country?
- Only if the key's region matches the region of the account redeeming it. A key intended for one region may be rejected on an account registered elsewhere.
- What is the difference between a key and an account?
- A key is a code you redeem to add the game to your own library. An account comes with the game already on it, so you sign in with the details supplied instead of redeeming anything.
- When do I get my key or account details?
- The key or account details are delivered to your order once payment completes.
- Can I use a Steam key for the Xbox version?
- No. A Steam key only works on Steam, and an Xbox code only works on Xbox, so pick the listing for the platform you play on.
