Can I use a Sixt gift card outside Germany?

The card is issued for the German Sixt site and is redeemed there in euros. Where a booking can be made is set by Sixt's own terms for the card, so check those before buying for someone abroad.

How do I receive the code?

The code is delivered to your order once payment completes.

What happens to any balance left over?

Whether unused value stays on the card depends on the terms attached to the specific card, which Sixt publishes on its site. Choose a value close to the expected rental cost to avoid leaving credit unused.

Do I still need a driving licence and payment card?

Yes. A Sixt gift card covers part or all of the booking value, but the rental requires a valid driving licence for the whole hire period and a valid form of payment.

Can the card be used for anything other than car hire?

It is intended for Sixt rental bookings made online. Other uses are governed by the terms Sixt sets for the card.

About Sixt gift cards

Sixt is a vehicle rental company offering cars and vans for short trips, holidays and longer hires from stations in cities and at airports. A gift card puts credit towards a booking, which makes it a practical present for anyone travelling, moving house or in need of a car for a weekend.

The euro denominations available stretch from modest amounts suited to a day's hire towards larger sums for a longer rental. Sixt gift cards sit alongside other travel and lifestyle codes in the store's prepaid gift card range.

How to redeem a Sixt gift card

Redemption happens online through the Sixt website at sixt.de, where the code is entered as part of the booking. Full terms for the card are published by Sixt on the same site.

Go to sixt.de.
Sign in to your Sixt account or start a new booking.
Choose your station, dates and vehicle.
Find the voucher or gift card field during checkout.
Enter the code exactly as supplied.
Confirm the booking with the card value applied.

Region and account

Sixt gift cards are issued for a particular country's Sixt site, and the codes stocked here are euro cards for Germany, redeemed at sixt.de. Buy the card that matches the site the recipient will book through, as a code issued for one country's store is not intended for another.

Rental itself still requires a valid driving licence held for the duration of the hire and an accepted form of payment at the counter.
