Guild Wars 2 keys are used to register the base game or upgrade your account with expansions such as Heart of Thorns, Path of Fire, End of Dragons, or Secrets of the Obscure. Here is how to activate yours.
Before You Start
- An ArenaNet account (free to create at account.arena.net)
- Your Guild Wars 2 serial key (formatted as XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX)
How to Activate
- Go to account.arena.net and sign in.
- Click on “Redeem a Code” or navigate to your account overview.
- Enter your serial key in the redemption field.
- Click “Redeem”.
- The game or expansion will be added to your account.
For New Players
- When creating your ArenaNet account, you can enter your key during the registration process.
- This will automatically attach the game or expansion to your new account.
Tips
- Expansion keys upgrade your account permanently. You do not need to buy expansions in order.
- Each key can only be used once and is permanently bound to one account.
- If your key is not being accepted, ensure there are no extra spaces and that you are entering it on the correct ArenaNet page.
