An altergift is a digital game gift sent directly to your Steam account by one of our gifting partners. Unlike a product key, you don’t enter a code. Instead, the gift appears in your Steam inventory or as a pending gift.
How to receive and activate an altergift
- After purchasing, you’ll receive a Steam friend request from our gifting partner (or Keydra’s gifting account). Accept the friend request.
- The partner will then send the game as a gift through Steam.
- You’ll receive a notification in your Steam client. Go to your Inventory or check the gift notification popup.
- Click “Accept Gift”. The game will be added to your library immediately.
- If the gift was sent to your email, check your inbox for a gift email from Steam and click the “Accept” link.
Important notes
- You must accept the friend request for the gift to be sent. Don’t ignore it.
- Altergifts may take a short time to be sent after purchase, as they are processed manually.
- Steam gifts may be region-locked. Make sure your Steam account region matches the gift’s region.
- Once accepted, the game is permanently in your library and cannot be refunded through the gifter.
- If you don’t receive the gift within the expected timeframe, contact our support team.
