Can I use a United States card in Canada?

No. Each card belongs to the Home Depot store of its own country and currency. Buy the version that matches where the recipient shops.

What happens to any balance I do not spend?

Unused credit stays on the card number, so you can apply the same card and PIN to a later order until the balance is used up.

Can I combine a gift card with another payment method?

Yes. If the order total is higher than the gift card balance, the remainder is covered by whatever other payment method you select at checkout.

How do I receive the code?

The card number and PIN are delivered to your order once payment completes, and you enter them at Home Depot checkout.

Do I need a Home Depot account?

The card is applied in the payment step of checkout, so you only need whatever account or guest details Home Depot asks for to place the order.

Home Depot gift cards

A Home Depot gift card is prepaid credit for the home improvement retailer, applied as payment when you check out on the Home Depot website.

It covers the kind of shopping the store is known for: tools and hardware, paint and decorating, lumber and building materials, garden and outdoor goods, appliances, lighting and storage.

About Home Depot gift cards

Home Depot is one of the largest home improvement chains in North America, stocking everything from fixings and power tools to plants, flooring and kitchen fittings. A gift card puts a fixed amount of store credit behind an order, which suits anyone part way through a renovation, a first-time homeowner filling a toolbox, or a tradesperson restocking consumables.

Card values run from small amounts suitable for a top-up through to larger sums for a bigger project, in US dollars or Canadian dollars depending on the version. Because the credit is not tied to a single department, the recipient chooses what the balance goes towards. Home Depot codes sit alongside other prepaid gift cards for retail brands.

How to redeem a Home Depot gift card

The card is entered during checkout rather than loaded onto an account in advance, so keep the card number and PIN to hand while you place the order.

Open homedepot.com in your browser.
Add the items you want to your cart and proceed to checkout.
Open the payment tab.
Choose the option to apply a gift card.
Enter the card number and the PIN.
Place the order with the gift card credit applied.

Regions and where the card works

Home Depot gift cards are issued per country and match the currency and store of that country, so a United States card is for dollar checkouts on the US site and a Canadian card is for Canadian dollar checkouts on the Canadian site. A card bought for the wrong country will not apply to the other store.

Choose the version for the country where the recipient actually shops and takes delivery, since delivery addresses and stock are handled separately in each market.
