OBI gift cards
An OBI gift card is prepaid credit for the German DIY and home improvement chain, used at the till in OBI stores. It covers whatever the store stocks, from tools and paint to timber, fittings, garden plants and furniture.
About OBI gift cards
OBI is one of Germany's best known home improvement retailers, with large branches carrying building materials, hardware, electrical and plumbing supplies, decorating goods and a garden centre. A gift card puts a fixed amount of credit in the recipient's hands and lets them pick what a project actually needs, which is usually easier than guessing at a specific tool or fitting.
It suits new homeowners, anyone mid renovation, keen gardeners and people who spend weekends on small repairs. Face values run from small amounts suitable as a token gift up to larger sums for a bigger job. Other retailers and services appear in the wider prepaid gift card range.
How to redeem an OBI gift card
The card is used in person rather than online, so the code or card details are presented in store when paying.
- Visit any OBI store in Germany.
- Take your goods to the checkout.
- Present the gift card when paying.
- Pay any remaining difference with another method, such as cash or an EC card, if the balance does not cover the total.
- Combine several gift cards on one purchase if you wish.
Region and where it works
OBI gift cards are issued for Germany and are redeemed at OBI stores throughout the country. They are tied to that market, so a German card is meant for someone who shops at a German branch and is not intended for OBI-branded stores in other countries.
Check which country the recipient actually shops in before choosing, and match the card to that market. Gift cards for other countries and other retailers sit elsewhere in the gift card category.
