Can I use a Tmall.com gift card outside China?

No. The balance is held in Chinese yuan on a Chinese Tmall account and is spent on the Chinese marketplace. It does not work on other regional stores.

Do I need an existing Tmall account?

Yes. You sign in first, then apply the code to your account or enter it at checkout, so an account is needed before redemption.

What happens to any balance I do not spend?

Applied balance stays on the account and goes towards a later purchase, so you do not have to use it all on one order.

How do I receive the code?

The code is delivered to your order once payment completes, and you enter it yourself on Tmall.

Can I combine more than one gift card?

Each code is applied separately through the coupons and gift cards section, so you can add balance from several cards to the same account.

Tmall.com gift cards

A Tmall.com gift card adds spendable balance to a Tmall account, applied through the coupons and gift cards section or straight at checkout. The balance then goes towards purchases on the marketplace, including Tmall Supermarket.

Codes are issued in Chinese yuan for the Chinese store, so they suit shoppers with an existing Tmall account.

About Tmall.com gift cards

Tmall.com is one of China's largest online marketplaces, where brands and official flagship stores sell electronics, fashion, beauty, household goods and groceries. A gift card is a simple way to fund an account without linking another payment method, and it works well as a present for someone who already shops there.

Face values are set in Chinese yuan and run from modest amounts up to larger balances, so a card can cover a single small order or contribute to a bigger basket. If you are comparing options for a recipient in China, Tmall.com sits alongside other prepaid gift cards for regional stores and services.

How to redeem a Tmall.com gift card

The code is applied from within your account, or entered during checkout if you would rather use it on an order straight away.

Open tmall.com in your browser.
Sign in to your Tmall account.
Click "My Account" in the top right corner of the page.
Select "Coupons and Gift Cards" from the drop-down menu.
Enter the gift card code in the "Coupon Code" field and click "Apply".
Use the balance towards your next purchase, or enter the code on the checkout page instead.

Regions and account matching

Tmall.com gift cards are tied to the Chinese store and the yuan balance held on a Chinese Tmall account. A code will not transfer to another country's marketplace or currency, so buy the card for the store where the recipient actually shops.

Check the region marked on a card before ordering and make sure it matches the account that will redeem it, since a mismatched code cannot be applied.
