Nintendo eShop codes let you redeem games, DLC, and Nintendo eShop credit directly to your Nintendo account. Here’s how to activate your code.
Before you start
Make sure you have the following ready:
- A Nintendo Account
- A Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, Switch OLED, or Switch 2 console (or access to the Nintendo eShop website)
- Your 16-digit download code (formatted as XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX)
- An internet connection
Method 1: Via Nintendo Switch (Recommended)
- From the HOME menu, open the Nintendo eShop.
- Select the account you want to redeem the code on.
- Click “Redeem Code” on the left side of the screen (or select your profile icon, then “Redeem Code”).
- Enter your 16-digit download code and select “Confirm”.
- The game or content will begin downloading automatically.
Method 2: Via the Nintendo Website
- Go to ec.nintendo.com/redeem in your browser.
- Sign in with your Nintendo Account.
- Enter your 16-digit download code and click “Next”.
- Confirm the redemption. The content will be linked to your account and available for download on your console.
Tips
- Nintendo eShop codes are region-locked. Make sure your Nintendo Account region matches the code’s region.
- To change your Nintendo Account region, go to accounts.nintendo.com → Profile → Country/Region. Note: you must have a zero eShop balance to change regions.
- If the code is for eShop credit (funds), the balance will appear in your Nintendo eShop wallet.
- Each download code can only be used once.
- If you receive an error, double-check the code for typos, especially similar-looking characters (0 vs O, 1 vs I).
