About Codemasters
Codemasters built its reputation on driving games: the loose surfaces and stage-by-stage rallying of DiRT, the circuit racing of GRID and the Formula One simulation of the F1 series. Work on these titles came from teams including Codemasters Birmingham, Codemasters Southam and Codemasters Cheshire, with Sumo Digital and Turbine also credited among the studios represented.
The range reaches beyond racing too. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, developed with Bohemia Interactive Studio, brings a military action angle to the list, and the titles listed span releases from 2009 to 2020.
Games in the Codemasters range
Rally is the largest strand, with DiRT 3, DiRT Rally, DiRT 4, DiRT Rally 2.0 and DiRT 5 covering everything from stage rally simulation to mixed surface off-road events. Circuit racing is handled by GRID and GRID 2, while the F1 line runs through F1 2011, F1 2013, F1 2014, F1 2015, F1 2016 and F1 2018. Together they sit across racing, sport and simulation categories, with action, adventure and strategy also represented.
Most titles are PC releases activated on Steam, so they belong with the wider range of Steam keys. DiRT Rally 2.0 also covers PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and DiRT 5 covers PlayStation 5 and Xbox One. A good share of the listings are add-ons: season passes, car and stage packs and other expansions that attach to a base game you already own.
How buying works
Each game activates on the platform its listing names: Steam for the PC titles, or the relevant PlayStation or Xbox store for the console versions of DiRT Rally 2.0 and DiRT 5. If you are new to redeeming on PC, the guide on activating a Steam key walks through the steps.
Most games come as keys you redeem on your own account. A few, including DiRT Rally 2.0 and DiRT 5, are also sold as accounts, which arrive with the game already on it and are signed into instead of redeemed. - Which platform do these games activate on?
- The PC titles activate on Steam. Console editions of DiRT Rally 2.0 and DiRT 5 activate on the matching PlayStation or Xbox store for that listing.
- Will a key work in another country?
- Only if the region of the key matches the region of the account you redeem it on. A key sold for one region will not activate on an account registered to a different one.
- What is the difference between a key and an account?
- A key is a code you redeem on your own account to add the game to your library. An account comes with the game already on it, so you sign in with the details supplied rather than redeeming anything.
- Do DLC and season passes need the base game?
- Yes. Add-ons such as car packs, stage packs and season passes only work if the matching base game is already on the account, in the same region.
- When do I receive the key or account details?
- The key or account details are delivered to your order once payment completes.
