About Frontier Foundry
Frontier Foundry publishes games made by outside studios alongside titles from Frontier Developments itself. Its line-up leans towards thoughtful systems and management: Complex Games built the turn-based tactics of Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters, Petroglyph Games made the strategic trench warfare of The Great War: Western Front, and Haemimont Games produced the colony survival of Stranded: Alien Dawn.
The label also carries more intimate work, including Okomotive's side-on journey FAR: Changing Tides and KeokeN Interactive's science fiction adventure Deliver Us Mars, while Frontier Developments supplies the park management of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3.
Frontier Foundry games in the catalogue
The range spans strategy, RPG, action, simulation, adventure and survival, with releases from 2021 to 2023. Fans of strategy and tactics will find Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters, The Great War: Western Front and Stranded: Alien Dawn, while Lemnis Gate, FAR: Changing Tides and Deliver Us Mars cover shorter, more directed experiences. RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 rounds things out on the management side.
Add-ons make up a sizeable part of the listings, particularly for Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters, which appears with the Execution Force and Duty Eternal packs as well as edition bundles such as Castellan Champion and Grand Master. Most titles are Steam releases for PC, with Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters also listed for Xbox One and FAR: Changing Tides for Xbox Series X|S.
How buying works
Each game activates on the platform shown for it, which for most of the range means Steam. A key is entered once on your own account and the game stays there; the Steam key activation guide walks through the steps. Some titles, including The Great War: Western Front, Stranded: Alien Dawn, Deliver Us Mars and FAR: Changing Tides, are also sold as game accounts, which come with the game already on it and are signed into rather than redeemed.
Games are sold per region, and a key has to match the region of the account it is being activated on. Checking how region locking works before ordering avoids a mismatch.
Common questions
- Which platform do these games activate on?
- Most Frontier Foundry titles listed activate on Steam. Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters is also listed for Xbox One and FAR: Changing Tides for Xbox Series X|S, and each listing activates on the platform stated for it.
- Will a key work in another country?
- Only if the region of the key matches the region of the account redeeming it. A key intended for one region will be refused on an account registered elsewhere, so check the region before buying.
- What is the difference between a key and an account?
- A key is a code you redeem on your own account, adding the game to your library. An account comes with the game already on it, so you sign in with the details provided instead of redeeming anything.
- Do the Chaos Gate add-ons need the base game?
- Yes. DLC such as Execution Force and Duty Eternal requires Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters on the same account. Edition bundles including the base content do not need a separate copy.
- How do I receive what I buy?
- The key or account details are delivered to your order once payment completes, and you then redeem or sign in depending on the type bought.
