Can I use a United States Hulu gift card on a Japanese account?

No. The dollar cards apply to Hulu accounts in North America, and the Japanese subscription codes apply to the Japanese service. Buy the card that matches the account country.

What happens to credit I do not use?

Credit stays on the Hulu account and is applied to future billing cycles until it runs out. It is not paid out as cash.

How do I receive the code?

The code is delivered to your order once payment completes, and you enter it on the Hulu account page.

Do I still need a payment card on file?

While the gift card credit covers your plan, the balance is used first. Once it is exhausted, Hulu will need another payment method to keep the subscription running.

Can I add more than one card to the same account?

Codes are entered one at a time in the gift or promotional code field, and the credit accumulates on the account.

Hulu gift cards

A Hulu gift card adds credit to a Hulu account, which is then applied to the subscription plan on that account as the billing cycle comes around.

Alongside dollar value cards, Hulu subscription codes covering set numbers of months are listed for Japan, so a viewer can be set up for streaming without a card on file.

About Hulu gift cards

Hulu is a streaming service carrying television series, films and original productions, watched on computers, phones, tablets, smart televisions and streaming boxes. Credit from a gift card goes towards the plan the account is signed up to, so the balance is drawn down month by month rather than spent item by item.

The cards suit anyone who prefers to pay for streaming up front, and they work well as a present for a viewer who already watches Hulu. Dollar values run from smaller top-ups to larger amounts, while the Japanese codes come as fixed subscription lengths of one month and longer. Hulu sits alongside other prepaid gift cards for streaming and entertainment.

How to redeem a Hulu gift card

Most Hulu gift cards are entered on the account page rather than at a checkout. The help-centre guide on redeeming a Hulu gift card walks through the process with screenshots.

Log in to your Hulu account page.
Find the payment information section.
Open the gift or promotional code field.
Enter the 12 digit redemption code exactly as supplied.
Confirm the entry and check the credit shows on the account.

Regions and where Hulu cards work

Hulu credit and subscription codes are tied to the Hulu service of the country they were issued for, so a code needs to match the account and the region the viewer streams in. Dollar cards are issued for North American accounts, while the fixed length subscription keys apply to the Japanese service, which is run separately.

Check which country the recipient's account belongs to before buying, since a code meant for one region will not apply to an account registered in another.

Regions currently listed for Hulu: United States, CA/US. Use the region filter beside the results to see the cards for one country.
