About Frontier Developments
Based in Cambridge, Frontier Developments builds and publishes games where players plan, balance and expand something complex: a coaster park in Planet Coaster, a wildlife collection in Planet Zoo, a dinosaur attraction in Jurassic World Evolution 2 or a racing outfit across the F1 Manager series.
The range stretches beyond management too. Elite: Dangerous is a space flight and trading game set in a vast galaxy, while Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin is a real-time strategy game. Titles span releases from 2016 to 2025 and cover strategy, simulation, casual, action, adventure and RPG tastes, sitting alongside other simulation games and strategy titles.
Games and series in the catalogue
The park and zoo builders are the core: Planet Coaster and Planet Coaster 2, Planet Zoo and Planet Zoo 2, and Jurassic World Evolution 2. Motorsport is covered by F1 Manager 2022, F1 Manager 2023, F1 Manager 2024, plus F1 22 and F1 23.
Expansions and add-on packs make up a large share of the listings, including the Planet Coaster Classic Rides Collection and Studios Pack, which attach to the base game on the same account.
Platforms include Steam and other PC storefronts such as the EA App and Epic Games, along with Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, depending on the title. Most Frontier Developments listings are Steam keys, while several games also come as accounts.
How buying works
Each game activates on the platform its listing names, so a Steam release is redeemed in the Steam client and a console release on the relevant Xbox or PlayStation store. If you have not redeemed a code before, the Steam key activation guide walks through the steps, and the notes on region locking explain why a key must match the region of the account it is used on.
Where a title such as Planet Zoo, F1 Manager 2024 or Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin is sold as an account, you receive an account with the game already on it, which you sign into rather than redeem.
Common questions
- Which platform do these games activate on?
- Activation matches the platform named on the listing, whether that is Steam, the EA App, Epic Games, Xbox or PlayStation. A Steam version cannot be redeemed on a console store, or the other way round.
- Will a key work in another country?
- Games are sold per region, and a key has to match the region of the account it is activated on. A key intended for one region may be refused by an account registered elsewhere.
- What is the difference between a key and an account?
- A key is a code you redeem on your own account to add the game to your library. An account comes with the game already on it, so you sign in with the details supplied instead of redeeming anything.
- Do expansions and packs need the base game?
- Yes. DLC such as the Planet Coaster Classic Rides Collection or Studios Pack requires the base game on the same account and platform before it can be used.
- When do I get the key or account details?
- The key or account details are delivered to the order once payment completes.
