About Red Barrels
Based in Montreal, Red Barrels works almost entirely in horror. The studio made its name with Outlast, a first-person game of asylum corridors and limited batteries, then followed it with Outlast 2 and the multiplayer-minded The Outlast Trials, all built around vulnerability instead of combat.
Its games sit across the adventure, action, indie, horror, survival and first-person shooter tags, which is why they turn up alongside other story-led adventure games as well as pure horror shelves.
